Pause Café, Bandra: Where Mindful Design Meets Plant-Based Indulgence

In the heart of Mumbai’s ever-evolving Bandra neighborhood, Pause offers something rare—an invitation to slow down. More than just a café, Pause is a sensorial experience that merges sustainability, community, and culinary joy. Conceived by Rohit Dadlani and Mohit Menghrajani, this intimate 32-seater space is a celebration of plant-forward dining, thoughtful design, and intentional living.
Designed by Parzan Daruwalla and Natasha Chawla of Studio Sixty-One Fifty-Eight (6158), the café unfolds over 500 square feet yet feels expansive thanks to its conscious spatial planning. The striking blue-bracket façade—which doubles as a community bench—catches your eye from the street, while the signage in Devanagari and English sets the tone for a global-local experience.
Step inside and you’re met with abundant natural light, clean lines, and versatile seating—comfy couches, high tables, and even Japanese-style tatami seating. The interiors exude a sense of calm, with reclaimed Burma teak, Rajasthani marble, and gentle textures that reflect the brand’s low-impact philosophy.
For Rohit Dadlani, Pause is the result of years spent in sustainable finance, where he learned how daily choices can drive systemic change. His co-founder, hospitality consultant Mohit Menghrajani, has shaped Pause into a brand experience—one that speaks of transparency, comfort, and care.
Everything at Pause has a purpose. Hemp napkins, reusable materials, and efficient waste management are just the tip of the iceberg. Even the ellipses in the branding signal an open-ended experience—a reminder that every guest’s interaction with Pause is their own.
Curated by consultant Chef Pooja Masurkar, Pause’s menu is entirely plant-based and largely gluten-free, yet it never compromises on flavour or finesse. Ingredients are fresh, seasonal, and responsibly sourced, with many dishes prepared entirely in-house.
Start your day with a Tropical Smoothie Bowl, Kale Kala Channa Toast, or the intriguing Kimchi Pancakes. Small plates like Rainbow Salad Rolls, Crispy Eggplant Parmesan Stack, and Enoki Wings balance texture and bold flavour.
Among the mains, the Tofu Schnitzel Wrap, Jackfruit Makhni, and Mediterranean Bowl with kodo millet tabbouleh exemplify Pause’s knack for reinventing comfort food in clean, innovative ways.
Finish with guilt-free desserts like the indulgent yet wholesome 24 Carrot Cake or the diabetic-friendly Chocolate Orange Mousse—both proving that sweetness and health can coexist.
Pause Café isn’t trying to be trendy—it’s setting a new tone for what conscious hospitality looks like in Mumbai. It's a space where design serves function, food feeds the soul, and slowing down becomes a daily ritual.
Whether you’re a Bandra local or a first-time visitor, Pause is worth the detour. It isn’t just a café—it’s a call to live better, one thoughtful bite at a time.
